Updated Mar 12th 2020

Is True North still operating?

YES. We will still be operating at full capacity, but taking all necessary precautions to ensure that the our work is safe for staff by following the guild-lines set forth by public health officials.

What does this pandemic mean for me?

Unfortunately since we are almost exclusively an event company, it means that a large number of shifts will be cancelled as a result of the events themselves being postponed or cancelled.

Am I at Risk/Should I get checked out?

At this point in time there is no reason to suspect that any staff have come into contact with a carrier as a result of the shifts previously worked. How ever if you have flu like symptoms you are encouraged to consult the Alberta  Health Link 811 (dial 811). Do not Dial 911 unless you have serious medical issues.

What Are the Symptoms of Covid-19?

For the best information please visit the Alberta Health Services Website.

Does this affect the pay schedule?

No. Pay will continue to run every 2 weeks with the next pay run being completed on Mar 13th.

Will I be compensated for cancelled shifts?

As per the Alberta employment standards, employees who had shifts cancelled within 24rs of the start time will still be compensated. (Ie: Mar 12th Flames Game). All other shifts beyond the 24hr mark will not be compensated for.

Will training still be happening?

We are exploring options to modify our training so that we can limit the risk. At this point in time, no training that was scheduled has been cancelled. For a full list of upcoming courses available, please visit our employee portal.

Will events planned by the Social Committee still be happening?

The event that was going to take place in march has been postponed. Stay tuned for updates.

How long will this last?

It is Unclear at this point in time. The situation is very fluid and ever evolving.  There is no Guarantee on this timeline to return back to work, how ever based on preliminary reports from clients, I would expect that at least 4 weeks is in the realm of possibility. Stay tuned to this page for updates regarding return to work.

How do I know if my shift is cancelled?

All staff will be notified via email if they are on a shift that is cancelled. In addition, the google calendar event will be cancelled.

What shifts have been cancelled so far?

Stay tuned to this page  (below) for updates on some of the major cancellations.
